Turkey Hill Duetto

www.LifeAdviceSite.com

I love ice cream. Who doesn't? My favorite kind of frozen treat is the light and creamy soft serve. All Hail to the Dairy Queen! It's airy, low in fat and calories and the flavor is so smooth and dreamy - like sweet clouds on the end of my spoon. It's delightful in every possible way.

Living in a place where the winters are long and cold, it can be very depressing when the local ice cream shops board up their windows for the season. We make do with ice cream from the grocer's freezer, but there's just nothing quite like that creamy goodness fresh from the ice cream machine.

Imagine my delight when Turkey Hill introduced their Duetto flavors with creamy vanilla soft serve and various flavors of Venice Ice.

Could it be true?

It was!
I tried every flavor I could get my hands on, and I was not disappointed. The root beer duetto tastes like a delicious root beer float in a box. The cherry is akin to a cherry dipped soft serve cone at the local ice cream stand. The ice cream is soft and creamy as promised and although a few stabilizers and preservatives might be at work in that department, in the dead of winter I just have to have a scoop (or two).

Do You Need A Coach?

www.LifeAdviceSite.com

You've discovered the secret, and now you finally know and understand the law of attraction. You've figured out there is a formula to attracting wonderful things into your life and living the best existence possible. You identified the fact that life is meant to be an abundance of all things good, and you resolved to seek all the abundance to which you are entitled.

So you set to work long ago, mapping out your life and imagining the vision of what you wanted for yourself and your family. You focused, mediated and did whatever you could to bring that image about. You changed your thoughts, you changed your habits and you have done everything you have heard is necessary in order to manifest the vision for your life. You were excited and truly believed it could and would happen. You imagined yourself rich, healthy, happy and surrounded by those you love and those who love you.

Did it work for you? Does it work for you all the time, or are you finding that some things easily come to pass while other things don't? Is there an inconsistency in manifesting your vision?

Why do you suppose that is? Do you look at some of the masters who have used the law of attraction to change their lives and wonder what they have done in order to achieve their goals which you have not?

Are they simply born with the knowledge of the law of attraction?

Possible.

Many people have the good fortune of figuring out the power of prayer, meditation and positive thought in their own life long before affixing any particular term to the practice. It's possible they may have a naturally happy and positive disposition which allows for an easy transition in applying the principles of the law of attraction to a successful life. So maybe it just comes more naturally to other people?

It could be.

Or maybe it's something else.

The knowledge of how to apply the principles of attraction to manifest good in your life is something that was once possessed by a select few. They taught their pupils who in turn became masters and went on to teach others through the generations. Sometimes it was passed among family members, other times by masters working with their protégés. In fact, some of the greatest masters of the law of attraction are those who have had the opportunity to work with other successful teachers.

Jack Canfield, a successful practitioner and coach of the law of attraction credits the beginning of his transformation to the time he was able to spend working with W. Clement Stone and gleaning the wisdom from Stone's years of experience and achievement. Bob Proctor, another terrific teacher on the law of attraction and the power of thought extends credit to his own teacher Earl Nightingale, a pioneer in the field of personal development. If we were to go back in history, we would find countless examples of the teacher passing on the knowledge to the student.

So maybe that's it. Maybe you haven't been as successful as you wanted because you haven't found the right teacher.

As human beings, all of our behaviors are learned behaviors. We teach each other how to speak, how to read and write and even how to eat with proper table manners. There are a few savants in the world who are able to pick out melodies on the piano with no formal instruction, but most of us need to be taught the correct notes so we can interpret those signals into the music we hear.

If you're struggling with the concept of attraction and the successful application in your own life, maybe it's simply because no one has ever taught you how to apply the practice every day in every way. It may be vastly different from what you have been taught to believe your entire life, and beyond the adjustment period you needed to process the information your education is still incomplete. You can still be wildly successful, but for many of us to enhance and accelerate our progress we benefit greatly in consulting a coach. Often times when we attempt something new, we need guidance and direction from those who have gone before. There's no shame in that. In fact, it's intended. One of the gifts mankind has been given is the interaction of teaching and learning from each other. We employ teachers and coaches for mathematics, science, music and art. Why should the science and art of attracting success be any different?

There are many resources available to those who seek. If you search you can likely find a life coach or law of attraction specialist who would take you as a client and help you find the keys to consistent success in your life. Alternatively, many experts have written extensive literature and offer courses online, through seminars, in books or on tape. All we have to do is try them out to find something that resonates deep within and opens new channels within us to allow the information to flow through us.

Pick a teacher who inspires you and seek them out. If that person is a public speaker, chances are they have a website or they have written at least one book designed to offer you guidance. Take that guidance!

Your Thoughts Do Become Things

You've heard it said before. Lately it's one of the buzz phrases making its way around the world as one person after another begins to deepen their study of the concepts behind the law of attraction. Your thoughts become things. It's hard to get your head around the idea sometimes. When we hear the phrase, we imagine if we sit and focus long enough and hard enough that we can somehow materialize our thoughts into a tangible physical object akin to a genie. Since the other laws of nature as we know them simply contradict this concept, we dismiss the idea as hogwash or nonsense and continue on with our lives as they are.

The truth is, your thoughts do become things. It doesn't happen like an old episode of "I Dream of Jeannie", but it does happen in more ways than we even realize. After all, what happens before every single time you take action in your life? You think it.

When you see an animal in the road, you swerve the car because your mind instantly thinks, "don't hit!"

You look in your closet and think, "I need new clothes." Then you go to the store and what happens? That thought of needing new clothes "materializes" into a new shirt or new pants hanging in your closet.

Remember the last time you were craving Chinese food or pizza? You just couldn't get it off your mind for days until finally you broke down and got take-out. What happened? Your thought became an egg roll!

Sometimes, it happens outside of our own actions or control. My husband and I often do this for each other without knowing. I remember craving pizza for two weeks straight, saying nothing out loud until he came home one night with the pizza of my dreams. Several weeks later I brought him cheeseburgers for lunch and smiled knowingly at his exclamation, "I was thinking about cheeseburgers today!" When I knew he was thinking about getting a DVD recorder at some point down the road without even realizing it, I made sure his thought manifested into a DVD recorder for his birthday.

What about other things? Do you ever have a particular song in your head and then suddenly you hear it playing? Have you ever been thinking about a particular movie for a while and then it comes on TV?

Well it turns out our thoughts do become things after all. It doesn't happen every time with every thought (thank goodness!), and it often comes about in different ways. Sometimes we take the action ourselves to make the reality possible, and sometimes other people in our lives cause it to be. It may not happen by magic like it does in the movies but when you open up to the reality and the possibility, it does seem quite magical in your mind.

So, what are you thinking about today?

What is Brain Therapy?

By LifeAdviceSite.com

Well, some of it may seem a little complex or even like some odd new-age spiritual mumbo-jumbo, but there is real science behind it all. Let's see if we can take a gander at trying to break it down.

Quantum physics explains, "all matter is organized by waveforms and frequencies."

Huh?

Everything in this world is energy, right? The sun is energy in light and heat. Plants, trees and human beings are energy. So the idea is each object gives off energy at a different vibrational level,
producing its own unique frequency. You've heard different frequencies at a rock concert or when someone blows a whistle. Some of these vibrations can be heard by the human ear, and others require sophisticated equipment.

OK.

So - you have a frequency all your own. It's the vibrations given off from every cell in your body. Your thoughts and feelings have unique frequencies altogether. We can even see them in a brain wave scan . They're represented by those wavy lines you see jumping around on an EEG monitor after someone has been connected to a bunch of electrodes by people wearing white coats. Those brain wave patterns on the monitor are translating the speed at which the neurons fire.

Wait.

A neuron is a highly specialized cell which transmits chemical signals in your body. Different types of neurons make up the nervous system and transmit information through your whole body.

Go on.

Every time a neuron fires to communicate information to another neuron, an electro-magnetic spark of energy is released. It's like firing a flare gun to send a message. The more rapid the fire, the faster the frequency. There are very specific frequencies related to the different activities of the body and mind. Each of these brain waves has a unique frequency set somewhere between 1 and 70 Hz, and we've assigned each of those frequencies a unique name.

Ready? I hope you remember your Greek Alphabet...

Alpha is the frequency associated with creativity and relaxation. The brain waves in Alpha are gentle and slow.

In the Beta state, the neurons fire rapidly like it's 4th of July. While in the Beta state, it is likely you are focused and in deep concentration (like right now!)

Gamma is the frequency assigned with awareness and precognition, and it is typically supported by the other frequencies.

When brain activity slows down but your mind is still mostly conscious like before you drift off to sleep, your brain is in the Theta state. Theta is often associated with exercises to uncover memories or even past lives - if you're into that kind of thing.

Once you are completely relaxed in deep meditation or sleep, your brain waves slow all the way down to what is known as Delta.

Still with me? Awesome.

So now we come to the Law of Resonance. You may remember this from your science classes in school. It states, "all energy resonates at a specific frequency enabling only energy of a harmonious frequency to attach to it creating your physical results", or "when two energy fields vibrating at different frequencies are brought together, the resonance of the two must meet. Either the higher will be pulled down to the lower, the lower will be raised to the higher, or they will meet somewhere in between."

Say what now?

Basically, if there is an object that begins to resonate (vibrate) at a certain frequency and there is another similar object nearby, it will also begin to resonate at the same frequency. If they're both buzzing humming at different frequencies, they'll adjust to match each other.

You may have seen the tuning fork demonstration. One tuning fork is struck, causing it to hum. Another tuning fork nearby will also begin to hum in unison even though it has not been struck at all. Cool! Maybe you're experienced it at a stoplight when some young music buff pulls up next to you with the base in his car cranked up. Your car - and even your head - will begin to hum and vibrate in unison. Hm, not as cool.

In brain wave therapy, your brain is exposed to the frequency matching whatever you are seeking - concentration, relaxation or memory. This exposure enables your natural brain frequency to shift and actually match the particular frequency you need for whatever task you want to accomplish.

Based on everything we've learned so far, it makes perfect sense, right? Right.

Brainsync by Kelly Howell offers wonderful products you can use at home to help with concentration, relaxation and even weight loss. Click on the Brainsync icon to explore what Brainsync has to offer.

Lindt Excellence Chili Dark

By LifeAdviceSite.com

Let me start off by admitting to you all that, yes, I was definitely nervous about eating a chocolate which boldly advertises that it contains red chili pepper. I grew up on good ole' Hershey bars, and in my world, chocolate is its own reward simply for chocolate's sake. The only thing that really makes chocolate sing for me is a hint of good quality mint, so in my mind, chili has no business going anywhere near chocolate.

But I'm not 8 anymore. Not only have I learned to love spinach, I've learned to appreciate quality, pure chocolate and to recognize the difference between that and the imitation chocolate out there that tastes like it contains more oil and refined sugar than actual chocolate. I'm refining my taste buds and daring to be more adventurous in the culinary arena, so despite the fact that I don't necessarily enjoy spicy foods such as chili, I decided to live dangerously and went in with eyes wide open and taste buds poised for the worst.

Past the sophisticated cardboard container embossed in gold with the Lindt name and the delicate foil wrapper lay a wide dark chocolate bar that looked and smelled of deep, rich cocoa. So far, I was not alarmed. It was unassuming, and appeared to be like any other dark chocolate. Pushing past my hesitation, I went in for the first bite. I have to say, I was disappointed. After a few chews, I started to let the chocolate melt in my mouth. It tasted like chocolate - just chocolate. What happened to the chili? I was expecting something different. What had I gotten myself all worked up about if it only tasted of chocolate?

It was good, sure. The texture is rich and creamy, with a slightly bitter flavor that dark chocolate is known for. I shrugged to myself and prepared to take my second bite just as the first was nearly melted away, and then it hit me: a mild warming sensation that spread over the whole of my tongue, reverberating in certain spots like subtle pin pricks tickling my mouth.
How odd, I thought, like a quiet parting gift that softly whispers back at you on its way down the esophagus. It was not entirely unpleasant, but definitely different. After letting my pallet neutralize, I went in again, this time skipping the chewing and simply letting the chocolate rest in between my lips to taste. Again, I tasted the chocolate first, which slowly gives way to the warmth of the chili oil.

I will say it's not my favorite chocolate choice, but definitely worth the $2 to enjoy a new and entirely different chocolate experience.

Manifest Through Nutrition

By LifeAdviceSite.com

Have you ever considered the importance of nutrition in the proper application of the law of attraction? If we are living in an attraction-based universe and everything is energy, then even our food and drink have their own unique vibrational signature which can either interfere with or work in harmony with our own.

The law of attraction is all about our brain waves and the power of our thoughts. The idea is that our thoughts radiate a certain frequency which attracts and delivers more of that particular frequency to us. If we're depressed and thinking depressing thoughts, we'll attract more depressing thoughts which beget more and so on. Sometimes this process goes on without our conscious knowledge, but the study of the law of attraction teaches us how to harness that energy and appropriate it into the correct channels. It teaches that our thoughts become things, but we have the power within our minds to change our thoughts to whatever we want and thereby achieve anything and become anything we want.

Everyone knows the power of the mind, but what happens when that mind is not working properly or it is not entirely focused? Extensive studies have been done on the effects of certain foods on the body, the mood and the mind. Certain people respond differently to certain foods. You may already know chamomile tea can make you sleepy for bed and bananas give you energy for a run, but what about the other effects some foods may have on you? What about when your blood sugar crashes after a sugary snack caused it to spike, or your third cup of coffee has worn off? What about those junk food meals that make you sleepy and lethargic so you can barely make it through those emails at work?

If your brain isn't functioning at optimum level and you can't think straight, then how can you properly decipher, attract and manifest whatever you want for your life? The mind is a part of the body, and it requires certain nutrients to get going and to keep going. In addition, if your body serves as the transmission tower, then you have to keep it in good condition to broadcast clearly at all times. No static allowed!

Your body deserves the best nutrition so you can perform at your best all the time. Healthy natural foods from the earth will work in harmony with your chemistry and physical make-up to help you be the best you can be. How do you pick the right foods for yourself? Do some research, experiment with different food combinations and find out what natural foods makes you feel wonderful so you can be focused on becoming your best.

And just think - as you're focusing on better nutrition, you'll be attracting better nutrition! Before long you won't even have to think about it as it will become second nature!

(If that didn't make sense to you, your blood sugar is probably low. Have a cookie. ;o)

Great Go-Snacks for People on the Go!

Health and Fitness

By LifeAdviceSite.com

Sometimes you want a snack with you during the day to satisfy your hunger and your need to munch. Need some ideas for the most convenient and "on the go" friendly snacks? Consider these:

Apples are a great go-snack. They fit easily in a bag. Give them a rinse and a quick wipe with a clean paper towel, and they'll fill you up with fiber, provide antioxidant protection, and keep the doctor away!

Bananas are great since they come in their own packaging. Full of natural sugars to keep you energized, they are also packed with fiber to fill you up and stave off that gnawing hunger in your belly so you won't go running for something more questionable....

Bell peppers are an amazing snack. All you need is a knife and a zip-lock bag. Wash the pepper, slice it in half, remove the seeds, and slice the halves into strips or bite-sized chunks. Throw them in the zip-lock bag and you're ready to go with a sweet, colorful, crispy and crunchy snack you can munch on all day. You can annoy others with your incessant crunching, and you won't even miss the chips!

Cucumbers are great. Slice them into thin circles or long strips you can whittle away between your teeth, and throw them in a bag with the bell peppers or by themselves. They make a "munchable" snack. To dress them up and add some protein and calcium, bring along cheese slices and top the cukes just like a cracker! YUM! Edible plates!

Berries are a beautiful bite-sized snack. Give them a rinse, throw them in a bag or a plastic container and you're good to go. Not only are they easy to snack on, but they'll be providing you with tons of antioxidants and a boost to your immune system.

You like peanut M&Ms? Almond joy? Me too. For a change, though, try getting used to snacking on the nuts without the candy coating wrapped around them. Peanuts, almonds, cashews, hazelnuts, pecans...pop a handful in a bag and have them with you. If you have to, toss in a couple peanut M&Ms to help ease the transition. Nuts are full of protein and healthy fats that will not only make your hair shiny and make your eyes sparkle with the glow of good health, but they will help you not feel hungry while you're busy reviewing spreadsheets or picking the kids up from soccer.

Cottage cheese comes in terrific snack-sized portions that are great when you're on the go. Toss one in your bag with your keys and your apple, and you'll have a protein and calcium-rich snack that will go straight to your bones instead of your hips. It will also keep you feeling satisfied. Don't forget to bring a spoon!

String cheese. It's chewy! It's stringy! It's fun to eat! Plus it provides about 15% of the daily recommendation of calcium. Not only that, but they come in individually wrapped portions that will stay clean and protected until you're ready to eat them. Just don't leave them in a hot car....eeww....

Grapes are a wonderful snack. Although they tend to take up more room on the vine, and plucking each one off for packing can be time consuming, their high water content will not only help cleanse your system, but it will keep you hydrated and, along with the fiber content, will help keep you from feeling hungry. Grape, anyone?

Mmm, Pizza Hut

By LifeAdviceSite.com

More Restaurant Reviews

http://marthalake.homestead.com/files/QuickSiteImages/PizzaHutLogo.jpg

http://musingsofamuslimah.files.wordpress.com/2006/03/Pepperoni Pizza.jpgPizza Hut, to me and my family, is something of a staple. They've been in operation over 50 years now, and I've been a patron for 30 of those years. Forget Zwieback Teething Toast, I cut my teeth on Pizza Hut pizza crust. For about 10 years straight, Friday nights in my house were Pizza Hut night, complete with a large pepperoni and extra cheese crust.

For a while, I'll admit - I strayed. My body's needs changed and I desired a lighter, thinner crust. For those times, another famous pizza chain fit the bill. For a long while, I cleaned up my eating habits and saw pizza as the enemy and accordingly, I stayed away. Since having met and married, however, I have been drawn back in by a husband who is as married to Pizza Hut pizza as I once was.

Pizza Hut is probably best well-known for their pan pizza - named so because it is baked in a deep-dish pan. Its crust is thick, golden brown, crispy, and glazed with a light coating of oil, which, although perhaps not the best choice for healthy cholesterol, is irresistible in its crispy, crackly texture.

Recently, I've reignited a love affair I once had with the salad bar that is available in most
full-service Pizza Hut restaurants. I've always been a healthy consumer of vegetables thanks to constant offerings at the dinner table while I was growing up, but in recent years, as I've uncovered all the health benefits of consuming fresh foods from nature, I've become somewhat obsessed, and I now crave vegetables as much as I sometimes crave chocolate.

Now, one of my favorite things to do with my husband is have dinner at our local Pizza Hut. He fills up on pizza and bread sticks. I gorge myself on lettuce, carrots, broccoli, bell peppers, cheese and a drizzle of dressing. Then I enjoy a slice or two of pepperoni pizza. That way I get the best of everything - fresh vegetable great for my health, cheesy, irresistible pizza, and a fully satisfied belly.

Pizza Hut's most recent transformation has been a highly publicized offering of pastas. Am I crazy, or does anyone else remember that Pizza Hut has always had spaghetti and ziti on the menu? OK, I understand - they're offering NEW pastas, and they want to make sure we know about it. Point taken.

Among the new pasta offerings are a rotini in a marina meat sauce, a chicken alfredo, and a mac
spctuscanipastas.jpgand cheese with bacon.

In my humble opinion, I will say that they are all delicious, although I have to say the alfredo chicken, with its smooth, subtle cheese flavor is probably my favorite. The meaty marina has a somewhat spicy kick which is exciting on the tastebuds, and the mac and cheese is creamy with a rich mouth-feel.

All of the pastas are baked, and come to the table with a
lovely crust of golden baked cheesy deliciousness.

When delivered, an aluminum tin nestled inside a cardboard box keeps them hot and tasty until they reach your door. If you're a regular consumer of take-out, pasta delivered to your door is a great alternative to having pizza delivered.

Pizza Hut has come a long way from the dark wood paneling of 20 years ago. They are emerging with a new image to meet the demands of a new generation, and if they keep turning out great pizza, fresh salad, and terrific pasta, I pledge that future generations of my family will also get the chance to cut their teeth on a nice, thick pizza crust (and maybe a peice of broccoli for a well-balanced knosh).

Life: Not What the Brochure Promised

Visit Self Study Page

By LifeAdviceSite.com

There are some basic rules that have been set down for us as guidance in order to live a happy and fulfilling life. No one is sure exactly where these standards came from, but it's been a consensus for the most part. Follow your dreams, they say. Work hard and you will achieve your heart's desire.

Really? Does that work? I thought so...

I finished high school with good grades and even pursued a four year degree. While I loved teaching and working with children, I found out pretty quickly that I could barely support myself on the salary I was making at a daycare. It was depressing.

So I shifted my focus. I sadly kissed those sweet, chubby faces goodbye and got myself a job in Corporate America. The money was better and so were the benefits. There were fewer diapers and less drooling, but almost as much whining and not quite so much emotional satisfaction. I stayed the course, though. I kept my chin up and my nose clean. I fought to excel at every task given to me and tried to make it my own.

One morning while driving to work down the same route as always, I literally gasped when I found myself in the parking lot at work. After a 40 minute drive, I barely even remembered getting there! Granted it was early in the morning and residual sleepiness might have played a part, but I realized I had been habitually following the same routine day after day and month after month to the point where I could almost do it in my sleep. I was on complete autopilot. I saw myself as a
drone along with everyone else, and I hated it. I didn't enjoy my life, and I saw little reason to my existence. I wasn't growing or learning anything new. All I could see was getting up and going to work all day every day to make the money needed so I would have some place to come home to at the end of the day. Working to maintain that home meant I rarely had time to enjoy my home. There was little time for anything else, either. I found myself caught in a strange conundrum.

At the time, I was also seeking to find my soul mate and spent a lot of time thinking about what he would be like and how we would enjoy life together. Then I sadly realized we would never be fully enjoying life together if he was working, I was working and we were both spending so much of our lives on the survival portion. What kind of a life would that be?

I looked around and thought, "Is this it? Not exactly what the brochure promised!" I thought life was supposed to be something beautiful. Aren't we supposed to spend time learning, teaching, growing and loving each other? What about all the places I had yet to travel? What about all the things I wanted to experience? Where was the excitement and adventure? How would I ever get anything accomplished if I spent my whole life working just to support my basic necessities? I wasn't even living an extravagant lifestyle by any stretch of the imagination. I had a modest two bedroom condo, a reliable car and a little left over for basics like clothes bought on sale, utilities used sparingly and food purchased in accordance to the grocery store sale circular. I rarely ate out at restaurants, I never spent money on books, classes, movies, or makeup... I basically had no extras. I was OK with that, but deep down I just felt there was a promise of something more.

When I started to change my life and realized I could be anything I wanted with the power of my mind and the power of positive intention, it finally began to click for me. NO, life is NOT supposed to be so discontented after all. I'm supposed to be healthy, wealthy and fulfilled in every possible way! Me and my fellow mankind are entitled to be happy and have fun. We were put here to learn and experience everything we possibly can. This is it. We have to make it great!

When I made that shift and I left behind the paradigm I had crammed myself into, my mind and heart literally exploded with ideas and creative consciousness. I went out and pursued several other career paths, learning and gleaning new experiences as I went. I was on fire, and after some a few years I uncovered my vision for what my life should be. For me, it was not inside a corporate office with a daily 8-5. My life vision was about expression, sharing and helping others in a way that meant something to me. I wanted freedom - financial freedom, freedom of my time and freedom to fly by the seat of my pants on any given day. I knew that vision could change or further develop down the road, and I knew all I had to do was follow it.

Years have passed and here I am now - still following, still opening my mind more and more with every day. I still have fleeting moments of discontent, but then I grab the reigns and take back control to steer my life in the direction it's meant to go.

We all have the desire, and we all have the ability. The key is to spend time on inner reflection so you can reveal your life to yourself. Who are you, and what do you want out of life? What do you have to learn, and what do you have to teach? How can you make the things that you love doing become the impetus for your life? Can you figure out a way to support yourself and your family on your passions? Where there's a will, there is most definitely a way. It can be done - especially in the world we live in today. We have so many amazing opportunities open to us. Just open your eyes and begin to see them.

It's understandable. We're caught in busy lives, and we've already learned a certain way to get through the days so it can be tough to take the time to learn something new. It's hard because learning something new can often be so time consuming and take so much of our energy.

When you were a little child and first began to read, you had to learn the basic components of language. Through song, pictures, and colors you learned the letters of the alphabet and how all those letters make up words. You learned each sound of the words' components, and you learned how to string those together into words and then sentences. Your first attempts were very slow as you sounded out each word and your brain synapses made the connection of their meaning. Many of us spent hours devoted to this task in school every day. As you grew and developed in the practice, your synapses fired faster and you recognized words more quickly. As adults, many of us can quickly skim over a sentence and understand its meaning without even processing all of the individual words. It becomes a quick and automatic habit.

The laws of life are the same way. You were taught to believe a certain set of ideals, whether intentionally or not. When you were young, you simply processed some of those ideas without even realizing, and they became a part of your consciousness and general life understanding.

Now you're attempting to learn something new. It's a challenge at first just like everything else that has ever been new to you. Some people might pick up on it right away, while other people will take a little more time digesting the information.

If learning has been difficult for you or you feel you don't have time in the midst of a busy life to relearn any concepts and behaviors, then you may consciously or unconsciously reject the new ideas.

Remember when you were young and it took you time to learn to read. This is the same concept. You need to devote the time to be consciously aware of the practices and principals so you can apply them in your life. As you learn the mechanics and recognize how they they apply - just like when you recognized a new word - you will be able to recognize that application much easier the next time around. Just imagine with time and repeated review, your practical application will become more seamless with less stumbling and stuttering. Eventually, it's going to become second nature. You'll do it without even thinking about it. You'll do it every day in every way, and it will become as easy to you as scanning a newspaper headline.

Open yourself up to that possibility.

You are capable.

You've learned thousands of things in your life. Remember the first day of a new job? Over time your job functions become automatic to you. Remember the first time in a new town or state? Eventually your surroundings became normal and it felt like home.

This is the same thing. Don't feel badly if you haven't been successful yet. Don't feel that you have done something wrong if you have yet to achieve the level of your desires. Just become methodical about your study habits and set time aside ever day. Study it as much as you can. There are millions of resources out there which you can learn and absorb. Take it all in. Practice it every day and it will become you. Before you know it, you'll have a new understanding and a new way of life.

An Apple A Day

By LifeAdviceSite.com
I love apples.

I can't even express how much I love apples. They come in so many shapes, sizes and varieties! There are red ones, pink ones, green and yellow ones. They are crunchy, sweet and all around delicious.

I remember hearing that saying when I was young, "An apple a day keeps the doctor away." As a grown-up, I could easily eat an apple a day (or more) because they're tasty, portable and widely available in so many more varieties nowadays. Their reflective skin and perfect round curves mesmerize me as if gazing at a fine ruby or green tanzanite...

I've always known they're good for me and provide important elements such as fiber for normal cholesterol, but now I find there's even more research out that apples are incredibly good for you. Apples contain both insoluble fiber, which aids in removing LDL cholesterol from the digestive tract and a soluble fiber called pectin, which can reduce the amount of LDL cholesterol in the liver. Flavonoids, a type of pigment contained in apples which lend them their color, have been researched and found to help prevent heart disease and certain types of cancer. Certain research has linked apple consumption with reduced risk of alzheimer's disease later in life. Plus, apples have natural sunscreen protection built in! They produce it to protect their skin from the sun, and when we eat them we get it too. Very cool. That's not even to mention all the antioxidants they pack inside their crunchy flesh.

Wow!

I'm going to go grab an apple - see you later!

Incomplete People?

Visit the Self Study Page

By LifeAdviceSite.com

When things are quiet and I’m left to my own contemplative devices, I think a lot about life and the events and circumstances I’ve gone through which have made me who I am today. I think about how all of us are made up of unique experiences, exposures and ideas whether good, bad, wrong or right. I think about the shy parts of me, the sensitivities I possess and the strengths I have been able to develop. I think about the fears and misgivings within me and trace them back in an effort to somehow uncover what seeds in my life might have caused them to take root. I consider the conditions which were ripe enough to allow them room to grow. I also think about what I have been able to overcome as well as those things I have yet to conquer. I’m certainly not perfect - very far from it in fact. I think I learn and re-learn new things on an almost daily basis, but that’s the way I like it.

I used to think there were certain things inherently wrong in me, and I spent a fair amount of time lamenting the facts and circumstances of my past life which I could not change. In large part when identifying my own weaknesses, I often deferred to my upbringing and the lessons taught (or not taught) to me by my parents.

My parents were loving people, and I never really doubted their caring and the fact they wanted to do right by me and my siblings. Because of circumstances in their own lives, they simply were not equipped to meet all of the challenges associated with raising children. I used to attribute my shortcomings in life to my parents' shortcomings in raising me. I figured despite all of my faults I turned out fairly well, notwithstanding the fact I was raised by loving but somewhat broken people who were lacking in their own ways and stumbling over their own hurts and disappointments in life.

Then one day I started really thinking about that sentiment and how unfair it was to think of someone as “broken” or “damaged”. After all we are all imperfect works in progress, so who was I to consider anyone else broken? Broken in comparison to what or whom? Is there anyone on this planet who is perfect and unblemished without a single hurt, or aren’t we all walking around with a few pieces of tattered duct tape holding together our fragile souls? In essence we could all be considered broken in some way or fashion. If that is the case, then there truly exists no perfect ideal with which to compare. If no pristine, untarnished example exists to demonstrate the perfection, then none of the others could be considered inferior. Rather, they are all at varying stages of development all moving toward the same goal.

The fact is I know with all certainty my parents did the best job they knew how to do, and I would be willing to bet your parents did the best they knew as well. I don’t think anyone would purposely choose the opposite of what they know is right and what they know they are capable of. I think for the most part, we all do the best with what we are given in all aspects of our lives. The difference is some are given more early on, while it takes more time for others to catch up.

I realized then it is not that any of us are broken, damaged or wounded. It would be more accurate to say we are still incomplete and not yet finished transforming into the magnificent creatures we are meant to be.

We all learn and develop at different rates. Occasionally we may choose the wrong path in life or innocently allow ourselves to be directed inappropriately in a way that sets us back from the goal of our life. The learning curve may be widened a bit more for a time, but no matter the detour, it is no reason to consider that it’s “GAME OVER” for our lives. It might take a little extra effort to right ourselves, but we can always find a way to get back to where we need to be to continue learning and growing into who we are meant to be.

Juicing Up Water

By LifeAdviceSite.com

We all know how important it is to get plenty of water. Our bodies are made of water, and we need a good supply to promote normal metabolism, healthy hydrated skin and smooth operations within all of the body's systems.

Let's face it, though. Water can get boring. Providing it's normal, water is odorless, colorless, tasteless and although a cold bottle of water can be a wonderful satisfying thirst-quencher, water itself can be somewhat lack-luster.

Since we know how good it is for us, though...we are not deterred! We will share interesting and creative ways to make our water exciting again, and we will keep on chugging that water down!

Green Tea: Green tea is good for your health. It has antioxidants and can provide a great boost to your metabolism. Brew up a pot of tea with a couple of tea bags and then pop it in the fridge for instant ice tea. If you can drink it as is, all the better. If you need to, add a little drizzle of honey to "sweeten the pot".

Lemon: Lemon is great. It adds a kick to your water and it's a diuretic that cleanses your insides and helps alleviate water retention when you're feeling a little bloated from eating too much salt.

Seltzer: When regular, still water just doesn't seem to have that depth that people always claim about "still waters", kick it up a notch and go for the bubbly! Fizzy explosive water tickles your tongue and massages your throat. It even tastes different. Add a splash of orange juice and you have an instant Orangina!

Cranberry Juice: Just an ounce or so will do nicely to brighten your water with a pretty pink color and tempt your taste buds with a little extra flavor and "zing". Like Lemon, Cranberry also works as a diuretic and cleanser that will help keep you healthy and clean from the inside out.

What Is The Meaning Of Life?

By LifeAdviceSite.com

For centuries the debate has raged on. After the many thousands of years that thousands of philosophers have wrestled with the unanswerable question, we still wonder: What is the meaning of life?

Human beings have done a lot of arguing about how we came to be on this planet. Did an almighty God breathe us into existence? Was it an accident of the Universal Big Bang, or are we simply the science project of a distant alien race? We have fought over it at the dinner table and waged wars over who is right. Most days I just can't help but wonder if it really matters. I mean honestly. Let's look at this rationally. We are living, breathing, amazing creatures positioned on this marvelous planet to conduct our lives. Who cares how we got here? Let's just work together to get this party started already!

I will make this easy on all of you who are sitting on the edge of your seats biting your nails day after day and trying to imagine what strange and mystical reason could have given birth to the human race...

I have discovered the meaning of life. That's right. I know the answer. Want me to tell you?

OK, here goes.

Wait for it...

The meaning of life - the reason we are all here on this great big planet is to uncover the meaning of life.

That's it, I'm done. Thanks for coming, Folks! Drive safe!

I know it's a little anti-climactic, but bear with me a minute longer. You have heard before that life is a journey. By now it has become something of a cliche, and the reason why is because it rings so true. Every single one of us is on this journey of life to learn, to grow and to become. Although we are on the same journey, the experience of the journey is different for every one of us. That's the beauty in it. We all have different perspectives, we place value in different things and we feel differently about certain events and circumstances. It's true we may be headed to the same destination of universal truth and understanding, but we aren't necessarily getting there the same way. Maybe you're on the escalator singing along to your favorite MP3, and I'm listening to elevator music, but we are still headed to the same floor. We can both get there in our own time and in our way. Isn't that amazing? I love that!

So knowing life is a journey, we can see how we are each meant to find a path of self-discovery and life-discovery. We all share some inherent truth that has yet to be fully realized and understood. We know we are destined for great things. Just because we have yet to figured out how to get there does nothing to diminish the truth within us. That's why we're all here! First we learn to breathe, then we form coherent thoughts, we learn to speak, walk and run.

Every day on this planet is more time to learn, grow and absorb. Every step you take is another step to uncovering your truth, your meaning and your reason for being. So what do you want your existence to be? What do you want your life to mean?

The High Cost of Health

By LifeAdviceSite.com

We all know how important it is to eat right. Despite cravings and succumbing to the occasional dietary pitfall, we all want to eat right and we all try our best to incorporate fruits, vegetables and whole grains in our diet. At least I know I always have.

There's one major problem I've often encountered which seems to be ignored by dieters, doctors and government officials alike.

It's expensive to eat healthy!

That's right, I said it. And it's about time we took notice. For years, I've been faced with a quandary. In staring up at the fast food menu in dismay, I note sadly how I could order a hamburger and small french fries for around $2.00 while opting to be healthy and ordering a garden salad will knock me out for roughly $5.00

I'm frugal; I always have been and always will be. I don't eat out much because of the high cost, but I often think of those who have little choice because of time constraints or traveling situations. I also grimace when I'm shopping for healthy foods in the grocery store and see how I could choose to buy one lonely avocado or an entire box of pasta for the same $1.25. It's easy to understand why we are faced with such an epidemic of obesity and poor health. For some, it's just not possible to eat as well.

It's just not right. In fact, it's downright tragic. We know it requires more energy and time to get fresh fruits and vegetables to grocery stores across the country before they wilt, but shouldn't there be a better way? Maybe we could shift some of those corn and grain subsidiaries to start more local farms so the food travels a shorter distance. Or maybe we could lower the price of fuel so it would cost less to move those foods. We could serve more fruits and vegetables in school, and have gardening projects instated as part of the curriculum. Perhaps we could set up funding for local community gardening space in every neighborhood, or offer government grants to everyone who wants to build their own greenhouse to grow fresh fruits and vegetables.

Any other ideas?
